Nawada: all 15 advanced life support ambulances now carry anti-snake venom

Bihar's Nawada district says its 15 ALS ambulances stock anti-snake venom, and people bitten by snakes are urged to call 108 at once.

All 15 advanced life support (ALS) ambulances operating in Bihar's Nawada district have been supplied with anti-snake venom, Prabhat Khabar reported on 30 October 2026.

According to the report, hospital manager Kumar Aditya said family members should call 108 immediately after a snakebite. The ambulance will reach the spot, give first aid according to the medical facilities available and, if needed, help take the patient to hospital. He advised against wasting time on superstition or home remedies and said the patient should reach a hospital as soon as possible.

Fleet in the district

  • The District Health Committee has provided 51 vehicles for emergency services: 34 basic life support (BLS) ambulances, 15 ALS ambulances and two hearse vans.
  • Four ALS ambulances are available at the Sadar hospital.
  • One ALS ambulance each is stationed at Kashichak, Narhat, Pakribarawan, Rajauli, Akbarpur, Govindpur, Roh, Warisaliganj, Kawakol, Hisua and Nardiganj.

Roop Lal Yadav, the 108 supervisor in Nawada, said the 108 ambulance service will play an important role in saving lives after snakebites, the report said.
