Motihari: civil surgeon flags off ambulance carrying 21 children for cleft lip treatment

Under the national child health programme, an ambulance took 21 East Champaran children with cleft lip and palate from Motihari to Duncan Hospital, Raxaul.

An ambulance carrying 21 children from Bihar's East Champaran district was flagged off from Sadar Hospital, Motihari, on Sunday for treatment at Duncan Hospital in Raxaul, according to Prabhat Khabar.

The children, identified from different blocks, have congenital cleft lip and palate. The trip was organised under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (national child health programme), part of the National Health Mission, which aims to provide free, quality treatment, the report said.

Civil Surgeon Dr. Dilip Kumar Singh flagged off the vehicle. The children's parents also travelled in the ambulance. Hospital administration arranged travel and treatment facilities so that the children and families would not face inconvenience, the report said. Medical examination and necessary treatment will be carried out at the hospital.

Dr. Singh said children with cleft lip and palate need timely and proper treatment, which can improve their health and future. Hospital manager Kaushal Kishore Dubey and other health staff were present.
