Palwal: ambulance with patient stuck 20 minutes in Pingwan market traffic jam

A patient-carrying ambulance was stuck for about 20 minutes on Pingwan's main road in Palwal, Haryana, where residents blame encroachment and parked vehicles.

An ambulance carrying a patient from a private hospital was stuck for about 20 minutes in a traffic jam on the main road of Pingwan town in Haryana's Palwal district on Monday, according to Amar Ujala.

The ambulance kept sounding its siren but could not find a way through and had to inch forward through the crowd. A school bus was also stuck for a long time, the report said.

Local residents Rafiq Khan, Hidayat Khan, Khurshid Ahmed, Rishi Pandit and Omprakash said encroachment by shopkeepers on the roadside and haphazardly parked vehicles cause frequent jams.

Pingwan Sarpanch Lalita Tanwar said anti-encroachment drives have been run several times and shopkeepers and residents have been counselled, but some people still encroach on the road. She appealed to residents not to keep goods on the road.

Why it matters for ambulance owners and drivers
