A 108 emergency ambulance crew in Gujarat helped a woman deliver a baby on a bus near Kathlal, according to a report in Sandesh.
The woman was travelling on a bus from Ahmedabad towards Dahod when she went into severe labour at about 10:30 pm. The bus driver and conductor called the 108 emergency service, and the team based in the Kathlal area reached the spot within minutes. The bus had been stopped on the Ahmedabad-Indore highway near Gadvel, close to a roadside tea centre.
The 108 EMT Keshrisinh Zala and pilot (driver) Mahendrasinh Solanki boarded the bus with the ambulance equipment and carried out the delivery on the spot. The report says the crew then gave first aid to the mother and the newborn under telephonic guidance from an ERCP doctor.
Both were then taken by ambulance to the Kathlal Community Health Centre for further care. The report says the mother and baby are safe, and that family members and local people praised the crew.
