Chamba: 108 ambulance stuck in jam as traffic stopped for Governor's convoy

Amar Ujala reports a 108 ambulance and another ambulance were caught in a jam in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, during the Governor's visit; the patient was not harmed.

A 108 ambulance on its way to pick up a patient, and another ambulance heading to the medical college, were caught in traffic in Chamba town on Saturday while traffic was held for the Governor's convoy, according to an Amar Ujala report.

The report says the town showed no special traffic plan during Governor Kavinder Gupta's visit. After the Governor inaugurated a mega exhibition at Chaugan at about 1:30 pm, vehicles were stopped near the Millennium Gate to let the convoy pass, and the 108 ambulance got stuck.

  • Traffic was congested from the taxi stand to Bazaar Chowk, and an ambulance was stuck for about ten minutes.
  • Outside the medical college there was a jam of about five minutes, in which vehicles carrying patients were also held up.
  • The report says that, despite the delay, there was no adverse effect on the patient's health.

The incident raised questions about traffic management arrangements for VIP visits, the report said.
