Rajasthan: Six 108 ambulances rush to Bhilwara village on a false emergency call

Around half a dozen 108 ambulances and a police vehicle reached a Bhilwara village after a caller reported a fight with many injured, but found no one hurt.

About half a dozen 108 ambulances and a police 112 vehicle were sent to Luhari Khurd village in Jahazpur tehsil of Bhilwara district, Rajasthan, on Monday morning after a caller reported a violent fight with 10 to 15 people seriously injured, according to a report in Amar Ujala.

The report says the caller phoned the 108 control room from different places, said women and children were among the injured and even claimed that one or two people had died. Ambulances were dispatched from Pandher, Jahazpur, Sawar, Nasirda and Deoli, along with the 112 vehicle of Hanuman Nagar police station.

On reaching the village, the crews and police found no fight and no injured people. As per the 108 staff quoted in the report, the caller's family said he had only a sprain or minor injury to his leg the previous night. Staff also said he was not in a stable mental state and was intoxicated, although the report notes these claims could not be independently verified. Ambulance services in the area were affected for about three hours, and a video of the incident went viral.

Why it matters for ambulance owners and drivers

  • False calls can pull several ambulances away from genuine emergencies for hours.
  • Crews responding to unverified multi-casualty calls lose time, fuel and availability for other patients.
