Andhra Pradesh links 2,259 ambulances to RTGS as cyclone Arnab approaches

Andhra Pradesh has linked 2,259 ambulances and emergency vehicles to its Real Time Governance System and kept 8,441 emergency beds ready ahead of cyclone Arnab.

Ahead of the severe cyclonic storm Arnab, the Andhra Pradesh medical and health department has put its healthcare machinery on high alert, according to The Times of India. The department has linked 2,259 ambulances and emergency medical vehicles to the Real Time Governance System (RTGS), cancelled leave for doctors and paramedical staff, and kept 8,441 emergency beds ready in government hospitals.

Of the vehicles linked to RTGS, 1,892 belong to government services, including 108 emergency ambulances, 104 mobile medical units and 102 mother-and-child transport vehicles. Another 367 private ambulances have been identified and linked to the system to supplement the government fleet during emergencies.

Health minister Satya Kumar Yadav said on Tuesday that 1,050 medical teams have been formed to provide immediate help in cyclone-affected areas. The department has stocked 26,500 anti-snake venom injections and shifted 2,838 pregnant women nearing their delivery dates to nearby government hospitals. It has identified 96 mandals in 20 districts as particularly vulnerable, and medical services have been arranged at 38 relief camps. Extra fuel has been stocked for generators at health facilities in case of power disruption.
