Two ambulances stationed at Bhagalpur Junction until end of Chhath festival

Railways and Sadar Hospital have posted two ambulances at Bhagalpur Junction round the clock from 18 October until Chhath ends, Prabhat Khabar reports.

To handle festival-season crowds returning from cities such as Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, railway authorities have started an ambulance service at Bhagalpur railway station, according to a Prabhat Khabar report published on 23 October 2026.

Under the arrangement, two ambulances will remain stationed at the station premises 24 hours a day from 18 October until the end of the Chhath festival.

  • One ambulance has been arranged by the Malda railway division of Eastern Railway.
  • The second has been placed by the District Health Committee and Sadar Hospital, Bhagalpur.

The report says health and railway staff at the station have been told to watch for elderly people, children and unwell passengers getting off long-distance trains, so that a patient can be given first aid and moved to a larger hospital quickly in an emergency.

Why it matters for ambulance owners and drivers

  • Festival crowds lead authorities to pre-position ambulances at busy transport hubs, with district hospital ambulances working alongside railway arrangements.
