Malda division plans 24-hour ambulance at Bhagalpur station after Chhath

Railways' Malda division will provide round-the-clock ambulances at Bhagalpur and some other key stations after Chhath, the DRM said, per Prabhat Khabar.

The Malda railway division has begun preparing to keep ambulances available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at Bhagalpur and a few other important stations, according to a Prabhat Khabar report dated 24 October 2026.

Divisional Railway Manager Manish Kumar Gupta confirmed that after the Chhath festival, Bhagalpur and some other key stations in the division will have an ambulance round the clock. He said preparations began once instructions were received.

Background

The report says the need for a permanent ambulance at Bhagalpur station became clear after an incident in January 2025, when a passenger whose leg was cut by a train had to be taken to JLNMCH Mayaganj in a tempo because the station health unit had no ambulance. The newspaper says it ran a campaign for the facility.

The report adds that the exact start date, the operating agency and the process for calling the service have not yet been made public.
